Viska members may be eligible for grants for language courses through BHM’s professional development funds. Both Starfsþróunarsetur and Starfsmenntunarsjóður BHM offer grants for language learning. We encourage members to check their eligibility and the conditions that apply to each fund.

Icelandic AI offers online Icelandic courses that you can take at your own pace, whenever it suits you. The courses include interactive video lessons and exercises in reading, writing, listening and speaking.
The platform also provides pronunciation practice, exercises and an overview of your progress, helping you follow a structured learning programme wherever you are and whenever you have time.

Bara tala – Icelandic for everyday life and work
Bara tala also offers digital Icelandic learning, with a particular focus on practical language skills for everyday life and the workplace. Learners can build their vocabulary and develop their listening, reading comprehension, writing and pronunciation skills.
Available through an app, Bara tala allows users to learn Icelandic from 25 different languages. It offers more than 160 courses and 150 phrase lists, alongside exercises and other tools that help users learn at their own pace.
